Jack Renison founded Crispie Creme in Kansas in 1929; his son Jim opened the Chillicothe shop in 1954 (current building 1964). A Paducah, Ky. Crispie Creme sold in the 1930s became the seed of Krispy Kreme. The Chillicothe shop is the only one left and remains in the Renison family.
