Terms of Use

Glazed and Amused is a hand-curated directory of independent donut shops. Everything here is published at the discretion of the site owner.

Your submissions

Ratings, comments, shop suggestions, closure reports, and owner corrections are all reviewed before anything appears on the site. Nothing publishes automatically.

Any submission may be edited, shortened, held, or removed at the site owner's discretion, at any time, without notice. Submitting something does not guarantee it will be published or kept.

Email addresses

We ask for an email address only so we can follow up on a submission or verify a shop claim. Email addresses are never published on listings.

Counting visitors

We count visitors with an anonymous random ID stored in your browser. It isn't linked to your name, email or IP address, and we use it only to know roughly how many people visit and which pages they land on.

Shop owners

Ownership is verified by an email address on the shop's own website domain, or by a code sent to the phone number already published on the listing. Social media handles are an editable listing field and are never accepted as proof of ownership.

Which shops we feature

We list independent donut shops: no franchises, no corporate parent, and every location in one city or one state. There's no cap on how many shops a family runs.

In full: we include independently owned donut shops and the groups a founder or family runs, however many shops that is. The brand must not franchise, license or share its name through a co-op, must not belong to a corporate parent (a holding company, a private-equity owner, a grocery or convenience chain, or a restaurant group that owns other brands), and every permanent location must sit within one metro area or one state. A metro that crosses a state line counts as one metro.

We count permanent storefronts, dedicated branded counters and kiosks, fixed stands, and donut trucks, carts and market stalls. A truck, cart or stall qualifies when donuts are its main product, it has operated for at least a year, it works regularly in one home metro, and it posts where to find it. A truck counts only in its home metro. We do not count one-off pop-ups, fair-only or event-only vendors, delivery-only bakers, or shops that simply resell someone else's donuts. A location counts once it opens, not when it is announced. Where the ownership or the footprint is unclear, the listing waits for a Donut Scout decision.

A dedicated donut shop always qualifies. A general bakery, cafe, diner or restaurant qualifies when established press coverage or a named award for its doughnuts shows that donuts are a reason people go there. Places that simply stock donuts, or sell them only some days, may appear as an editorial mention instead.

Eligibility belongs to the brand, so every shop under a brand shares the same answer. If a brand starts franchising, is bought by a corporate parent or spreads beyond one metro or state, its listings are retired from browsing, search, the map and the trails — but the records, ratings and history are kept, never deleted. Shops that close permanently are kept on record in the same way.

Accuracy of information

Shop details such as hours, addresses, menus, ownership and even whether a shop is still open change often, and much of what we rely on comes from online sources that change without notice. We do our best to verify details, but we can't guarantee that every listing is complete, current or error-free. Glazed and Amused is not responsible for errors or omissions, or for any loss or inconvenience arising from them. Please check with the shop directly before making a special trip, and let us know if something looks wrong.

No paid placement

Shops can't pay to be listed or to get a better rating. Tips through Ko-fi support the site and have no effect on any listing.
