Caitlin Schumacher, formerly pastry chef at Charleston's FIG, launched Girl Nextdough as a doughnut food truck in September 2021 and, with her father John McCormick, opened a brick-and-mortar bakery at 1939 Maybank Highway in James Island's Riverland Terrace in September 2025.
