Patrick Morris opened the shop in 1954, originally as Hot Donuts, because he wanted a place where he could have donuts anytime. In the early 1980s the family added a kitchen for breakfast tacos and Tex-Mex fare and renamed it The Original Donut Shop. It remains a single-location, family-run business, now led by Morris's daughter Millicent Clark, with one drive-thru line for donuts and another for tacos.
