The Lindsey Street shop opened as a Dunkin' Donuts in 1991; Sanjay Patel bought it in 1994 and in 1999 he and wife Dipti left the franchise to become the independent Donut King. After Sanjay's 2011 stroke and 2016 death, Dipti and sister-in-law Jasi Patel have run it, surviving the 2017-18 Lindsey Street construction on the strength of an OU supply contract.
