Stanley and Mary Guinn opened the Sweet Shop in Greenfield in November 1971, the year they married, in a converted house on the northwest corner of Main and Franklin streets with family living quarters. The shop later moved to 1309 W. Main St. Their four sons, Monty, Marland, Dennis and Kenny Guinn, grew up working there and still run it, with their wives and a nephew now part of the business. It celebrated 50 years in 2021.
