Davis Vincent, a Navy veteran from Pasadena, found the Lynnwood doughnut shop listed on Facebook Marketplace while moving to the Pacific Northwest to be near family ahead of the birth of his daughter Zuri, the shop's namesake. With little doughnut experience, he trained at night while working for FedEx, took over the shop around 2018 and rebuilt it around weekly flavor experiments, on the principle that "if you can get it anywhere, then it's boring." The shop ran a summer pop-up in Ballard in 2021.
