Robert Mohler started the shop in November 1960 as a Spudnut franchise, then developed his own potato-flour recipe and the TatoNut name. His son David 'Camp' Mohler took over in 1983 with his wife Theresa; after Camp's death in 2021, Theresa and their daughter Katelyn reopened it, making it a three-generation family operation on Government Street in downtown Ocean Springs.
