The little white building on Chippewa Street opened in 1953 on Route 66 and still runs out of the same roughly 600-square-foot space. Its neon sign went dark in the early 1990s and was relit in 2008 as the first restoration project of the Missouri Route 66 Association's neon heritage program. The recipes have not changed since the shop opened, and every donut is hand-cut and fried in-house. After decades under the Harter, Charleville and Schwartz families, Kevin and Erin McKernan took over in 2020.
