Susie and Al Brkich opened Cranky Al's on North Avenue in Wauwatosa in 2006 as a donut and coffee shop, then started selling the pizzas Al was baking in the bakery ovens after customers asked to buy them; the pizzas are now also sold frozen to nearby bars. Every donut is hand-cut and hand-iced. Nephew Joey Carioti has managed the shop since 2012 and became a managing partner in 2016.
