Doce Donut Co. was opened in May 2023 on Stone Way at the Fremont-Wallingford border by married couple Claudia Monroy, who grew up in Venezuela, and Damian Castillo, a culinary-school graduate whose Argentine parents have run bakeries for decades; Castillo's father runs the kitchen. The shop sold out on its first day and quickly became a destination, later adding South Lake Union and Bellevue locations.
