Bowman J. Spalding and his wife Zelma began selling doughnuts from their Rand Avenue home in 1929, then ran the bakery at Sixth and Limestone for about 70 years. Now fourth-generation family run; it moved to Winchester Road in 2006 and is run by granddaughter Martha (Spalding) Edwards with her mother Joyce.
