A Dozen Excuses opened in July 2014 at 1112 Tower Ave. in the Stillpoint Building in downtown Superior, founded by Melissa Hyatt and Cliff Lindberg. It was Superior's first dedicated doughnut shop and in 2017 was named one of the 10 best doughnut shops in Wisconsin, which the Superior chamber publicized.
