Founded in 1935 on South Water Street, the Downyflake moved after a 1991 gas explosion destroyed its building and settled on Sparks Avenue in the mid-1990s. It closed there in fall 2024 when the site was redeveloped and reopened in summer 2026 as a separate morning counter inside the Fairgrounds restaurant.
