General Porpoise is the doughnut concept of James Beard Award-winning chef Renee Erickson and her Sea Creatures restaurant group, inspired by London's St. John bakery. It grew to four Seattle shops plus a short-lived Los Angeles location that closed in 2019. In June 2025 the group closed the original Capitol Hill shop and the Laurelhurst shop, citing rising operating costs, leaving Pioneer Square and the Amazon Spheres cafe.
