Third-generation baker Mike Vande Walle and his wife Mary opened Uncle Mike's Bake Shoppe in De Pere in 2001 and added a Suamico shop in 2004. Mike died in December 2020 at 63 of COVID-19 complications; Mary and their children Brittni and Nathan have continued the business. The company now lists five locations including a Green Bay East Mason shop, an Appleton 'Food Emporium' and a Buchanan kringle shop.
