The Kobuk occupies the 1915 Kimball Building on Town Square Park, originally a pioneer general store that survived the 1964 earthquake. The Bonito family bought the business in 1993 and the building in 2002, and run it as a coffee, tea and gift emporium with a cafe and bakery.
