Jeff and Heather King, with no culinary background, opened Shire Donuts in Adams in October 2020 and sold 14,000 doughnuts in the first month. They added a larger Dalton store in 2022, closed Adams at the end of 2023, and in February 2026 closed a Lenox shop to focus on Dalton.
