The Amish Donut Trail

Bake days, cream sticks and donuts sold until they're gone.

The three largest Amish settlements in the country are in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania; Holmes County, Ohio; and Elkhart and LaGrange counties in northern Indiana. All three fry donuts.

Amish donuts are yeast donuts made from scratch: glazed, cream-filled, or rolled in cinnamon sugar. They're made for the family table and sold at bakeries, auctions and community events. Bakers start around 4 a.m. Get there early.

Plenty of Amish bakeries list no phone, no website and no hours. We've included what we can confirm, and we say so when we can't.

Check before you drive

Some of these shops close for winter, some bake only certain days, and several post no hours at all. Call where there's a number.
