  1. 1908

    New Palace Bakery

    Hamtramck, MI

    A Polish bakery, still family-owned, and the heart of Michigan's Pączki Day.

  2. 1912

    Resch's Bakery

    Gahanna, OH

    German immigrant brothers Frank and Wilhelm Resch started it in Columbus. After 113 years on East Livingston Avenue, the family moved to a bigger bakery in Gahanna in October 2025.

  3. 1913

    Fenwick Bakery

    Baltimore, MD

    Founded by Swiss immigrant Ernest Uebersax and his wife Alvena. Two longtime employees bought it from the founders' children in 1994.

    T. Komoda Store & Bakery

    Makawao, HI

    A plantation-town store that became a bakery in 1947. The founder's granddaughter runs it today.

  5. 1917

    Sunrise Bakery

    Beatrice, NE

    A downtown Beatrice mainstay for more than a century.

  6. 1918

    Soholt Bakery

    Mayville, ND

    Three generations of Soholts ran it until 2021. A cousin reopened it in 2022 with the original recipes. Get the raspberry Bismarck.

    Paielli's Bakery

    Kenosha, WI

    Sante and Matilda Paielli's family bakery, famous for the Cyclops doughnut. A fourth generation is joining.

    Bloedow Bakery

    Winona, MN

    Still frying from 1924 recipes. Krispy Kreme came to Winona and pulled out within two years. Bloedow's stayed.

    Wahoo Bakery

    Wahoo, NE

    On its seventh owners since 2020, still making applesauce donuts and kolaches from scratch.

  10. 1925

    National Bakery & Deli

    Milwaukee, WI

    Louis Wisniewski named it National because the word meant "for the people" in Polish. It turned 100 in 2025.

  11. 1926

    Round Rock Donuts

    Round Rock, TX

    It opened as the Lone Star Bakery. Texas Monthly later named its orange-gold glazed donut the best doughnut in Texas.

  12. 1928

    Busken Bakery

    Cincinnati, OH

    Joe Busken Sr. borrowed $500 to put an oven behind a meat-market counter. Hot glazed donuts are still about half the business.

    Spalding's Bakery

    Lexington, KY

    Lexington's oldest doughnut maker. Hand-cut, stick-flipped, cash only, and often sold out by late morning. Fourth generation.

    Potter's Bakery

    Traverse City, MI

    Norman and Julia Potter's bakery. Fourth-generation owners took over in January 2024.
